STEM Flights expands into Michigan

During the May kickoff events in Michigan, STEM Flights partnered with Crosswinds Aviation, School of Missionary Aviation Technology, and the Air Zoo Aerospace and Science Museum. According to officials, 15 students participated in flight experiences with six pilot mentors from around the state.

VFR into IMC fatal for two

The noninstrument-rated pilot’s decision to continue visual flight rules flight into an area of instrument meteorological conditions, which resulted in a loss of control due to spatial disorientation. Contributing was the pilot not obtaining a weather briefing prior to the flight.
