Yamaha Motor Co. has teamed with ShinMaywa Industries, a Japanese industrial conglomerate descended from the Kawanishi Aircraft Company, to conduct joint research on a next-generation general aviation aircraft. Under the new agreement, Yamaha Motor will explore avenues for adapting its small-engine technologies to the aviation industry.
FlightData Solutions launches BlueMAX for Cirrus Perspective
The BlueMax is a bluetooth adapter that enables wireless streaming of aircraft data to a portable device. When paired with the company’s free BlueMAX mobile app (available for iOS and Android) the user’s mobile device becomes a portable multifunction display.

The International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA) is accepting applications from students for business aviation scholarships through Sept. 1, 2021. Grants funded by the IADA Foundation range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Hangars in high demand
The results of AOPA’s Airport Support Network survey indicated that 71% of airports have a waiting list for their hangars. And at those airports with a waiting list, 72% of aircraft owners waited from six months to more than two years to get a hangar.
Seattle-area school takes top honors in Aviation Design Challenge
A team from Raisbeck Aviation High School won the challenge, which required them to modify a Glasair Sportsman to fly as many COVID-19 vaccines as fast as possible from Seattle, Washington, to Packwood, Washington. The teams needed to design their aircraft to maximize transportable payload and successfully land on a small runway, surrounded by high terrain.
