PORT ANGELES, Washington — According to the Peninsula Daily News, the Hollywood Beach Seaplane Association has submitted a permit application to the city of Port Angeles to install a new seaplane float and ramp adjacent to Hollywood Beach.
The project aims to restore seaplane access to the area for the first time since the 1980s. Key details of the proposal include:
- Infrastructure: Plans call for a 150-foot seaplane float and a 45-foot aluminum ramp, to be constructed by Marine Floats of Tacoma.
- Environmental Mitigation: To offset the new construction, the association proposes removing the “Historic Causeway” north of the Port Angeles Wharf, which includes 16,000 square feet of old decking and 250 creosote-treated wood pilings.
- Economic Impact: The association cites a report highlighting Port Angeles as a top location for seaplanes, noting that tourists could spend significantly on local fuel, lodging, and dining.
