Video: Memorial Day fly-over

The Warhawk Air Museum and P-51 owner Mark Peterson put up a flight of two P-40s and one Mustang on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020. There to capture it was Frederick A. Johnsen, the force behind the Airailimages YouTube channel and the Of Wings & Things columnist for General Aviation News.

“The museum traditionally makes an overflight of the Veterans Cemetery in Boise on Memorial Day,” Fred said. “This year, the formation included flyovers of additional cemeteries. The warbird flight also flew by area hospitals and medical centers to salute pandemic care workers.”

The almost six-minute video gives viewers a look at the start-up and launch of the two P-40s from Warhawk Air Museum’s home in Nampa, Idaho. The P-40s, accompanied by the P-51, returned to Nampa at the conclusion of the flight.

“The video ends with a U.S. Army rendition of Taps, and a moment to reflect on the military members who have passed, and who did so much to protect and serve the United States,” Fred concluded.
