My teenaged friend and I flew under a federal barge canal when we were teenagers (seventeen) in 1954 . No one knew who we were as no one could see the N number of our old Luscombe Silvaire. Not saying that was safe or sane, just saying we did it. We talked about it when we were adults and wondered how we didn’t kill ourselves. We were old cropdusters about to retire when we discussed that event in our lives.
Meant to say an old federal barge bridge that we flew under…..
I guess we better stop all airshow flying, particularly that dreaded “inverted ribbon cut”.
He had at least 70 or 80 feet clearance.
If you could not do that with your Cessna 172, maybe you shouldn’t be flying.

Perfectly legal if you launch from the water. But then you need a properly fitted out aircraft to do that.
