Young Eagle Michaela Goldammer, a resident of Blacksburg, Va., received her private pilot certificate Jan. 10.
She started her flight lessons in March 2013 at Twin County Aviation Flight School in Hillsville, Va., shortly after her very first flight in a general aviation aircraft through the Young Eagles program.
Goldammer also received the Emily Gile aviation scholarship from EAA Chapter 1426 to attend a week-long aviation camp at the National Flight Academy at Pensacola, Fla., during the summer of 2012.
