I’d suggest you approach buying any aircraft slowly, and ask lots of questions, such as total time, does it have a history of extended periods of activity, and review any and all maintenance records.

World War II veteran takes to the air in SBD Dive Bomber 80 years later

World War II veteran Dick Miralles slid into the gunner’s seat of the SBD Dauntless Dive Bomber almost as easily as he did 80 years ago in the South Pacific. Miralles, 98, was reliving his wartime experience in a restored SBD operated by CAF Airbase Georgia in Peachtree City, Georgia. According to Miralles, the flight “was calm compared to what I was used to.”

Unseasonably cool temperatures and low humidity made for one of the best flying days I have ever experienced in August. My wife jumped out and took this photo as we were preparing to depart Runway 27. Hoping to catch the sunrise, but was a little early, but still a cool picture.”
