Free A&P Classes Coming for High Schoolers in Michigan

Jackson County Airport (KJXN) plans to launch a non-profit in 2027 offering free aviation maintenance training to high schoolers, funded by an accelerated adult program.

Federal Grant Will Boost Aviation Training at WMU

The money will be used to purchase tools such as simulation software, maintenance training simulators, and cockpit electronic trainers, among other technology. It will also pay for new equipment for the uncrewed aerial systems operations certificate program, which Western Michigan University is considering expanding into a Bachelor of Science program.

The Museum of Flight is partnering with the Peninsula School District to launch a new Aviation Academy. Replicating the successful Aeronautical Science Pathway, the program offers students hands-on training and up to 60 college credits at no cost to families.

Oklahoma High School Aviation Championship Launches

The championship, which was held Feb. 20-21, 2026, at the Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus, brought together 12 finalist teams from across the state. Students participated in flight simulation rounds, showcasing their technical skills and aviation knowledge during the competition.

A partnership among Vincennes University, the Prosser Career Education Center, and Clark County Regional Airport (KJVY) in Sellersburg, Indiana, is developing the Southern Indiana Aviation Technology Center, which will be dedicated to flight training and aviation maintenance training.
