EAA Air Academy revamped
Registration opens Sept. 3, 2024, for the EAA Air Academy, the longest running youth aviation residence camp in the world, which will enter 2025 with an updated focus and more opportunities for young people engaging with the world of flight, according to officials with the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Florida’s Aerospace Center for Excellence introduces preschool program
The parent participation class is designed for children aged 3-5. Each week students and parents will explore a letter of the alphabet and coordinating aviation concept using hands-on, skill-based learning centered around play.
An Alabama Champion
ABC 33/40, an Alabama-based ABC television affiliate, recently posted a news story featuring Major Anthony Tisdale, an Air Force pilot who leads a summer camp for kids through Operation Aviation Foundation. The segment calls Tisdale “An Alabama Champion,” while he tells the news station that he really wishes a camp like this had been available when he was learning to fly.
New A&P program gets $4.4 million boost
Beginning in the fall of 2024, Pensacola State College will train students to become certified aviation mechanics in a new program at Pensacola International Airport (KPNS).
Maine’s first aviation maintenance technician school set to take off
The University of Maine at Augusta secured final approval in July 2024 from the FAA for the new program. Students will start courses in late August.
