What does 2024 look like for FBOs?
An annual FBO Fuel Sales Survey and Industry Forecast finds that fuel sales were down in 2023, with 41% of FBOs saying they say a reduction in fuel sales from 2022. The survey also asked about the top concerns for the industry in 2024, with answers ranging from the high cost of building hangars to the potential costs to transition to unleaded fuel.
Grant funds improvements at 66S
The $10,000 grant will go towards an irrigation system, grass seed, and chemicals to improve and stabilize the runway turf at the Cavanaugh Bay Airstrip in Idaho.

Michigan updates AWOS across state

New identifier for reopened Maine airport
The FAA has assigned a new identifier, 82ME, for Red Pine Airport, which is located within The Nature Conservancy’s Saint John River Forest in northern Maine.
Save the Boulder Airport
Later in 2024, the Boulder City Council will vote whether to keep the airport open or seek to reuse the land for new urban housing developments, according to officials with the Boulder Airport Association. The petition urges the Boulder City Council to vote “no” to closing the airport.
Grand Aire acquires National Flight Services at KTOL
The acquisition includes FBO equipment, including fueling and de-icing equipment, and facilities on the east end of the airport where Grand Aire will operate cargo-dedicated FBO operations. This is in addition to Grand Aire’s FBO operations at its existing corporate headquarters on the west end of the field, company officials explained.
