Audio Authority now shipping White Lightning SmartGPU

By General Aviation News Staff · December 26, 2024 ·

Audio Authority has begun the full production launch of its newest evolution of the White Lightning brand of ground power units — the SmartGPU.

The SmartGPU was designed for the needs of a wide range of general aviation aircraft, from piston-powered to mid-size business jets.

The White Lightning SmartGPU offers an advanced user interface, remote operation and control via a mobile device app, and its option for full-time battery maintenance charging, according to company officials.

Currently, two 28V models of the SmartGPU are available with similar features and capabilities, differing primarily in maximum current output.

The Model S28114 provides up to 114 amperes of 28VDC power and meets the needs of turboprop and business jet owners. The Model 28054 provides all the same features and up to 54 amperes at 28VDC, generally well-suited for piston powered aircraft, according to company officials.

Both models come complete with heavy-duty output cables and input cord sets, company officials noted.

Key features of the White Lightning SmartGPU include:

  • Intelligent connectivity: Utilizing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology, pilots can remotely monitor and control the SmartGPU using an iOS and Android-compatible mobile app.
  • Advanced Metering: Equipped with a 4 inch display, the SmartGPU provides real-time digital output metering and operational information.
  • Future-Ready Design: Built with scalability and longevity in mind, the SmartGPU is designed to adapt to future technological advancements, “ensuring continued relevance and performance for years to come,” company officials said.

Other highlights include:

  • Universal, worldwide AC input compatibility with provided cables
  • Graphical, color display with digital volt/amp output meters
  • Rugged, heavy-gauge aircraft cable with AN2551 external power plug
  • Multiple aircraft/operator profiles with event logging
  • USB ports for data downloads, firmware upgrades, and device charging
  • Programmable auto-shutdown timer to prevent inadvertent unattended GPU operation

“The ability to monitor and operate the GPU unit remotely gives aircraft owners peace of mind knowing that their aircraft and its battery are in optimal condition, ready to fly when they are,” said Jon Sisk, founder and president of Audio Authority.

Pricing

The 3,200-watt unit is available for $2,495. The 1,500-watt SmartGPU is priced at $1,595.
