LEXINGTON, Kentucky — The Aviation Museum of Kentucky at Blue Grass Airport (KLEX) is continuing its long tradition of NASA-supported Saturday STEM programs.
The programs are a full-day program focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) for middle school students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, as well as their teachers, according to museum officials.
Students and teachers participate in sessions during the day with a focus on a variety of aerospace topics that include the Bernoulli effect, technology of aerospace, aeronautical navigation, instrumentation, aerospace design problems, earth orbit, flight simulation, the International Space Station, and NASA space challenges.
The most recent program, with students from Lexington’s Winburn Middle School, included a tour of a visiting USAF C-17 Globemaster III from the 437th/315th Airlift Wing from Joint Base Charleston in South Carolina that had stopped at the airport during a training mission.
Additional programs are planned throughout the year, museum officials noted.
