MT-Propeller has received an FAA STC for the installation of a new scimitar design 3-blade hydraulically actuated constant speed propeller on Diamond DA42s powered by two Technify Motors GmbH TAE 125-01, TAE 125-02-99, or TAE 125-02-114 engines or Austro Engine GmbH 4E-B.
With this upgrade the original DA42s can feature the same modern propellers as those on the latest models from the factory, MT-Propeller officials said.
According to MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht, features include:
- Vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation
- No engine modifications
- Ground roll and takeoff distance over 50 foot obstacle reduced by approximately 131 feet
- Climb performance improved by 10%.
- 2 to 3 knots more speed (for Technify engines).
The MT-Propeller natural composite blades have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD, company officials add.
The installation is already certified by EASA and TCCA Canada.
