EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Thunderbird Aviation is busy preparing for the additional aircraft traffic and travelers who will be coming in and out of Flying Cloud Airport (KFCM), the closest airport to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, where the 41st Ryder Cup is being held.
The event, which biennially brings together 12-member teams from the U.S. and Europe, runs from Sept. 27 to Oct. 2.
“There’s a lot of excitement and anticipation as we near the start of the historic Ryder Cup,” said Nancy Grazzini-Olson, president of Thunderbird Aviation.
In addition to bringing on additional staff to handle the increased traffic, students at Academy College have the opportunity to volunteer at Thunderbird to gain experience during the event. Thunderbird is an official aviation-training provider for Academy College, the Twin Cities’ largest Collegiate Commercial Pilot Flight Training Program, and the exclusive provider of Minnesota’s only FAA-approved Aircraft Dispatch Training Program.
Travelers will be able to take advantage of Thunderbird Aviation’s numerous amenities including valet parking, concierge services, rental cars, catering, complimentary refreshments and a pilot lounge.
