ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Independence Aviation, based at Centennial Airport (KAPA), has promoted Rhett Kamm to Chief Instructor Pilot, replacing Charles O. “Chuck” Gensler, who is retiring from the post. Gensler assumes the new title of Chief Flight Instructor Emeritus and will continue to instruct students on a part-time basis.
“Chuck has done an outstanding job for our company and our students during his more than six years with IA,” said President Robert Stedman. “While he will continue indulging in what he’s most passionate about — teaching and flying — he also plans to spend more time with his family and do some traveling.”
Stedman adds that over the last year Gensler has expanded his instructional talents to include the Malibu, the TBM and the 310.
“With his extensive skills and his love of teaching, we will be able to keep him as busy as he wants to be,” he said.
Stedman said Kamm has been with IA for nearly three years. He assumed the combined role of Flight Operations Manager and Assistant Chief Instructor about one year ago.
“Rhett’s outstanding work in these areas made him a natural selection for the expanded role of Chief Instructor,” said Stedman. “His performance has already bolstered the foundational efforts laid by Chuck and others since we opened our doors for business nearly seven years ago.”
The changes officially take place Nov. 10.
