Some of FAA budget exempt from sequester

By Janice Wood · September 18, 2012 ·

According to data released Sept. 14 by the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, a large portion of the FAA’s budget will be exempt from mandatory sequestration cuts set to take effect on Jan. 3. According to a post at Rotor.com, about 30% of the FAA’s operations account is exempt — a large percentage compared to exemptions applied to other government agencies. However, the agency’s $11.5 billion operations budget, which in part pays for air traffic controllers and other safety functions, will be reduced by $377 million from 2012 levels.
