AvShop acquired by PilotMall.com

By Janice Wood · May 14, 2012 ·

PilotMall.com recently acquired AvShop, the original online aviation enthusiast and pilot supply shop. PilotMall.com has taken over operations and now carries AvShop’s most popular and unique inventory in addition to PilotMall.com products available through its online store and two retail locations.

“AvShop was a pioneer in e-commerce in 1996. It was the first aviation supplier to create an Internet-based store,” said Neil Glazer, founder of PilotMall.com.

AvShop.com customers searching for it online are now automatically redirected to PilotMall.com. They can still purchase many of the 3,000 AvShop items, from manuals and pilot charts to sunglasses and clip lights. Customers can also find new and innovative gifts, pilot supplies and accessories on PilotMall.com, Glazer said. Popular inventory items include flight bags, jewelry, transceivers, model airplanes and more.

Other than the name change, one main difference that former AvShop customers may notice is that PilotMall.com has two retail locations. The St. Petersburg store at Albert Whitted Airport is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The new shop in Lakeland, Fla. at the SUN ‘n FUN complex is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday, with free lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Customer orders placed through PilotMall.com will be shipped from St. Peterburg, Fla. The AvShop will-call pickup location is no longer available in Warsaw, Indiana.
