Astronaut Catherine “Cady” Coleman will speak at the International Women’s Air & Space Museum Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 7 p.m.
Cady will provide a post-flight mission briefing with a question and answer session. Following the presentation, there will be an informal meet and greet (autograph session), which concludes at 8:30.
Coleman was born Dec. 14, 1960, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1983 after receiving her bachelor of science in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She earned a doctorate in polymer science and engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1991. In 1992 she joined NASA. This past May, Coleman returned home after 159 days aboard the International Space Station, as a member of the Expedition 26 and 27 crews. In addition, she was a mission specialist on STS-73 and was lead mission specialist on STS-93 for the deployment of the Chandra X-ray Observatory.
