On Dec. 17, the 108th anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ famous first flight, Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in an airplane to kick-off the Museum of Flight’s annual Wright Spirit Holiday event in Seattle. The pair will fly-in via a classic de Havilland Beaver floatplane at 10 a.m.After greeting well-wishers outside, the couple will hear childrens’ holiday wishes inside of the museum until 2 p.m. Wright Spirit Holiday offers family activities, music and theater until 3 p.m. Indoor events are free with admission to the museum.
From 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. will be the Bank of America Weekend Family Workshop: Wright Spirit: They are the most famous brothers in the history of aviation: Wilbur and Orville Wright — the inventors of the airplane. Learn how they solved the problem of controllable flight. Then make a model of one of their aircraft designs.
At noon, holiday music by the Boeing Orchestra of Flight in the Museum Great Gallery will be played until 1 p.m.
At 2 p.m., the Amazing Skies Theater Presents: A Salute to the USO – A History of Service: Combining songs, vintage uniforms, comedy and oral history, this 50-minute show traces the USO from its beginnings in World War II to the present day.
