The Aviation Insurance Association (AIA) has named its president, Frank Kimmel III, and board of directors for the 2011-2013 term.
Kimmel, of Kimmel Aviation Insurance in Greenwood, Miss., was installed as president at the conclusion of the 2011 AIA Annual Conference in Miami. Prior to his tenure as president, Kimmel served on the Education Committee for six years as Director of the Continuing Education programs and then as Chairman of the AIA Foundation. In 2003, the agent and broker members of the organization elected Kimmel to represent them on the AIA Board of Directors. In 2010, the Board of Directors unanimously elected Kimmel as Vice President of the organization.
With more than 14,000 flight hours logged, Kimmel holds an Airline Transport Pilot’s (ATP) license and has type ratings in the F4U Corsair and the Lockheed T-33 jet. In addition to his U.S. ATP pilot’s license, he holds current pilot’s licenses in Australia, Brazil and South Africa. The Mississippi Ag Aviation Association bestowed on Kimmel the Allied Industry Associate of the Year Award in 2010, and he is a lifetime member of the Commemorative Air Force, National Agricultural Aviation Association, American Bonanza Society, the United States Parachute Association and a number of other aviation-related organizations.
Kimmel succeeds Todd McCredie of Piper-McCredie Agency Inc. in Flint, Mich., who served as President since 2009. McCredie’s service on the AIA Board will continue as he becomes Immediate-Past President.

The Aviation Insurance Association is a not-for-profit association dedicated to expanding the knowledge of and promoting the general welfare of the aviation insurance industry through numerous educational programs and events. AIA welcomes members from facets of the aviation insurance industry, including agents/brokers, claims professionals, underwriters, attorneys, associates and college students interested in the business. It is a worldwide organization and hosts conferences in the United States and London. The AIA has more than 800 members from all over the world.
