Following an auction for the first 100 DX15 Handheld Air Band Transceivers, Dynon Avionics has announced the availability of the DX15 at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
The DX15 is a compact handheld aviation band transceiver that was created as part of Dynon’s plans to supplement the versatile SkyView Glass Panel System with a panel mounted radio, company officials said. As part of that program, Dynon created the DX15 to learn about radio design, FCC Part 87 certification, and radio production. After testing demand for the DX15 with a limited edition online auction, Dynon decided to proceed with increased production and a retail rollout of the product, officials said.
Dynon Avionics DX15 Air Band Transceivers will initially be available at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh through several retail distributor partners, including Aircraft Spruce, Gulf Coast Avionics, Lockwood Aviation Supply, Pacific Coast Avionics, Sarasota Avionics, and Wicks Aircraft Supply. Following the show, the DX15 will continue to be available at these and other aviation suppliers.
Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the DX15 is only $160.
The DX15 comes with a Li-Ion battery as standard equipment, which is designed to require infrequent charging so to be ready to perform in an emergency, company officials said. Other accessories available for the DX15 include a Headset/Push-to-Talk Adapter Cable ($35), Desktop Rapid Cradle Charger ($30), and BNC Antenna Adapter ($5).
