Ranger Airfield’s Fly-In & Airshow No. 4 is slated for May 27-29.
The air show is a fundraiser to help keep F23 open, organizers said, noting there is some information pilots need to know before they fly in:
Rwy 1-19 is now 3,415 feet. The Texas Department of Transportation approved the extension mid May.
Visit Ranger Airfield’s website for fly-in information, especially on Friday and Saturday morning for updates on field conditions.
Because there will be so many pilots flying around, within about 10 miles of Ranger Airfield put down the GPS, confirm your radio is on CTAF 122.9, look outside the cockpit, and put your head on a swivel. It is traditional VFR, see and avoid flying, organizers say.
BRING YOUR TIEDOWNS. Hammers will be onsite if you need one.
Know your fuel situation and plan adequately. Only airshow performers will have fuel onsite. The most popular fuels stops for attendees spread out in four directions: Stephenville-Southeast, Brownwood-Southwest, Breckenridge-Northwest, Mineral Wells-Northeast.

The weekend kicks off with a Fish Fry Friday at 5:30 p.m. ($8), followed by an evening airshow at 7 p.m. (The field will be closed from 6:50-7:30)
Saturday Morning there will be a Lions Breakfast from 7-9 a.m. ($5), while the Lions will serve a BBQ lunch to pilots and passengers from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. (Donations accepted).
The Texas Antique Airplane Association Meeting will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, followed by the airshow at 1 p.m. (Field closed 12:50-2:30)
