Beyond the Edge, LLC recently upped its financial investment in Bye Energy, Inc., increasing its equity position in the company. Bye Energy is developing alternative energy for GA aircraft, called The Green Flight Project, with an electric-powered Cessna 172 in the works.
Richard F. Schaden, vice chairman of Bye Energy, Inc. and founder of Beyond the Edge, said, “The additional capital along with our active participation with Bye Energy is a direct result of how we feel about the performance and success of The Green Flight project. We can foresee even greater accomplishments in the near future. We are totally committed to long term collaboration and participation with Bye Energy.”
Beyond The Edge was founded to help bring potentially world-changing ideas and technologies quickly into practical use. The enterprise was founded by Schaden, an aeronautical engineer, active ATP-rated pilot, businessman and trial lawyer. “Bye Energy is achieving extraordinary results in bringing the future of clean energy to general aviation,” Schaden said.
Bye Energy announced The Green Flight Project in February, and is developing — with support from Cessna and other partners and sponsors — electric and electric-hybrid propulsion systems for light general aviation aircraft. The company is planning to fly an electric-powered Cessna 172 Skyhawk proof of concept aircraft in the spring of 2011.
