The Flight for the Human Spirit, which has been on a “Weather Hold” status for the past three days, has been cleared for takeoff from Salina Municipal Airport (SLN) in Kansas Thursday morning. According to Mission Control, the winds have been too prohibitive for the Remos Light Sport Aircraft to fly safely. A storm watch will take effect for the team as a system moves through the area on Wednesday. All forecasts are showing that the skies will be clearing throughout Thursday morning.

Michael Combs will be piloting the aircraft named “Hope One” into all 50 states over a total distance of over 19,400 miles, as a way to encourage people to pursue their dreams. He will be stopping in 135 cities and towns across the U.S. “I’m glad to hear this news,” Michael said from Salina, “we’ve spent so much time preparing for the flight…it will feel good to move forward. We’ve got a lot of people out there waiting to participate in our landing events.” The event will start at 7:30 a.m. at the America Jet facility located at the Salina Municipal Airport. Je will depart between 8 a.m. and 8:30. Other stops for the first day will be in Abilene, Topeka, Kansas City, and Columbia, Mo.
