Soon he was asked to take over the final stages of the testing program for the Skyrocket, a javelin-shaped experimental rocket-powered ship. The story of his day-by-day life with the plane is the substance of “The Lonely Sky.”
Bridgeman wrote “The Lonely Sky” with Jacqueline Hazard, married Bridgeman after the book was first published. Bridgeman died in an airplane accident in 1968.
