Wicks Aircraft Supply now sells Polyfiber practice and repair kits that introduce builders or restorers to methods for cutting, attaching, and heat shrinking fabric. There’s also a painting manual.
The kits consist of a reusable metal frame, a yard of P-103 fabric and enough dope to cover the frame at least two times, as well as brushes and sandpaper. A calibrating thermometer is also included to teach the skill of proper heat tautening The kit, priced at $56.10, can also be used for making small repairs to a fabric covered airframe.
For a more comprehensive introduction to covering and painting, Wicks will present a two-day seminar on the PolyFiber process Sept. 26-27.
