SimCom Training Centers has installed new, high resolution visual systems on its two MU-2 simulators.
The enhanced visual imagery is equivalent to that used on Level D simulators for business jets and commercial airlines, according to officials with the Orlando-based company. Selected airports have been modeled with detailed features that accurately represent the real operating area. Both Denver and Aspen, Colo., airports are included for training in a challenging mountainous environment. Converging traffic on the ground and while airborne offers operators the opportunity to train for conflict recognition and avoidance.
Weather phenomena is improved with new features including dynamic thunder storms with rain shafts, ragged ceilings, blowing snow, patchy fog and scud.
The MU-2 simulators were manufactured by SimCom and are located at its Orlando training center. They are designed to provide type specific training for the MU-2 series aircraft. Four specialized courses are offered including: Initial, Requalification, Recurrent and Maintenance. Courses are FAA-approved and are SFAR compliant.
