The Canadian Aviation Heritage Centre at Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, opens to the public on May 23, according to a news release from the organization. The Centre’s goal is to preserve Quebec’s civil and military aviation history. Its opening coincides with the 100th anniversary of powered flight in Canada.
Aircraft on display include a 1909 Bleriot XI which was the first plane to fly over Montreal, a 1928 Fairchild FC-2 Pioneer bush plane with folding wings, and a 1942 Bristol Bolingbroke, a coast patrol aircraft built in Longueuil, Quebec. The CAHC also houses an aviation art collection and library.
The Aviation Heritage Centre is located at the Old Stone Barn on the Macdonald campus of McGill University, Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec.
