The search has begun for a new president of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Tom Poberezny, who now holds the twin hats of chairman and president, said during Sun ‘n Fun that the association has retained a search firm and is in the process of finding a new president.
“The process is underway,” he said, noting the association is not in a hurry. “The time frame is not as important as it is that we do it right.”
Also underway is a redesign of the AirVenture grounds. Visitors to this summer’s show will see a whole new layout.
“I’ve been EAA’s president since 1976 and this is the most dramatic change we’ve ever made,” he said, noting the association has invested more than $4 million in the site redesign, which includes improvements to the campgrounds, exhibit areas and more.
The old control tower has been demolished, so the new tower, which opened last year, will become the new focal point of the show grounds, he added.
