Climb aboard the C-54 Skymaster that is a flying museum devoted to telling the story of the Berlin Airlift and the first person you see is…not a person at all, but a virtual depiction of one.
This virtual airman is projected onto a flat-screen TV located next to the rear door. He tells the story of the Berlin Airlift from the viewpoint of a young man involved in the event.
“Sarge tells us this is the biggest thing like this that has ever been done,” the electronic lad gushes.
The program is on a continuous loop. The TV is surrounded by items that the aircraft flew into Berlin, from sacks of flour to shoes and coal.
Look for the C-54 at air shows and other aviation events near you. It is open for tours and is a must-see for any aviation or history buff.
