The 33rd annual Copperstate Regional EAA Fly-In, held this year for the first time at Casa Grande Municipal Airport (CGZ) in Arizona, was a hit with pilots and vendors.
Vendors especially appreciated the air conditioned exhibit hall, which was packed with more than 100 booths featuring everything from avionics and maintenance support products to aircraft themed home furnishings.
Aircraft from as far away as Southern Florida attended the fly-in, and overflow parking was utilized by early Friday afternoon.
Campers enjoyed a large camping area with a brand new shower facility, created by volunteers from a refrigerated truck trailer. The mobile facility features hot and cold water, fiberglass shower stalls, and easy access.
The highlight of the annual Saturday evening banquet was the presentation of the awards, including one to Grand Champion Symmetry, the creation of Cory and Patty Bird of Mohave, Calif. Reserve Grand Champion was garnered by a Lionheart, the pride of Neal Obert of Tucson, Ariz. A complete list of winners can be found at Copperstate.org.
